SDGS & Classics:
In 2015 the United Nations General Assembly came up with 17 Global Sustainable Development Goals - goals like No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-being etc. You can view them below.
The Ancient Romans and Greeks were always an inspiration for change - take the Renaissance, the Age of Enlightenment, the introduction of Democracy and Republics in the American and French Revolutions! More than this we can even owe the Greeks and Romans for laying the foundations our own Irish Republic! What's more the Greeks and Romans invented atomic theory and the foundations of modern science, influenced modern ethics, philosophy, religion, art, literature, and architecture!
We - as Classics teachers and students - believe that we can still find inspiration from these civilizations to ensure that we have a better future. Therefore, we have a special award for the student who connects their project to one or more SDGs. Using the past to ensure the future.
