Information
As part of the ClassicsNow 2020 Arts Festival CAI-T ran a student competition asking students to create their own Myths on digital platforms such as Minecraft, Scratch, etc. We had 34 projects entered from 12 different schools across Ireland. While they were all of outstanding quality, there could be only one winner and one runner-up. Each receiving a money prize of €150 and €100 respectively. However, we have included a list of Honourable mentions, which our judge Dr. Martin Brady of UCD School of Classics considered close contenders for the top prizes.
2020 Winner
The winner of the 2020 contest was a recreation of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice on Minecraft. Dr. Martin Brady said of this project - "{the} video contained not only an extensive and detailed modelling of the underworld, but also, in its first person perspective, an opportunity to make a really dramatic reveal of the key moment in the story when Orpheus turned around!"

Honourable Mentions
Our first Honourable Mention was a wonderful project reconstructing the 12 Labour's of Hercules on Minecraft by Cathal Rogers. It was one of the most impressive projects entered and was a very close contender for a prize. Dr. Martin Brady said of the project that - "It was a grand concept (the 12 labours presented as a series of Minecraft adventures) using the resources of Minecraft's world-building and gaming tools to the fullest extent possible. I would really enjoy playing this scenario myself and showing it to my own students."
